A global failure of Slack is underway. This could be part of a bigger problem

For several dozen minutes, Slack has had problems with operation that affect users all over the world. Some people have trouble logging in to the application for mobile devices and computers or opening the website of the messenger, and others have problems sending and receiving messages. In other cases, Slack works, but individual threads can take a long time to load.

Slack already knows about the problem and is looking for a solution

He informed about problems with access to the service, among others but the problem has already been confirmed by Slack himself. The company admitted on Twitter that “some customers may have problems loading Slack.” Service administrators have outgrown their customers and keep you updated on changes. Slack informed about the fact that he is currently investigating the causes of the problem at 15:25. At 15:44 and 16:23 he confirmed that the failure still had not been resolved.

Downdetector also records a large number of reports about Slack’s failure, which began arriving at around 2:30 PM Polish time. several thousand and several hundred failure reports every 15 minutes.

Slack is often used for communication within companies, and now – due to the greater popularity of remote work – it is very popular. As the map on Downdetector shows, most reports in our country come (which is not surprisingly) from the largest cities – Warsaw, Kraków and Gdañsk.

Not only Slack

We are also receiving information that Slack’s problems may be part of a larger crash. As Downdetector shows, from around 2:30 p.m. Polish time, the website has recorded a large number of reports of failure of Amazon Web Services cloud services, which are used by thousands of companies and online businesses. In the case of AWS, several hundred reports are listed every 15 minutes in the USA.

As reported by the “New York Post”, another website that has problems with operation is GitHub, a website that allows you to share programming projects. Downdetector is currently not receiving any crash reports. So far, Amazon and GitHub have not commented on the crash reports.
