Samsung has revealed that the new flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S22 series will be partially made from junk. This is stated on the company’s website.
According to representatives of the corporation, Samsung uses material from fishing nets that ended up in the ocean to make cases for its smartphones. “Now and in the future, Samsung will use recycled ocean plastic across its entire product line,” it said. The company clarified that the choice of this material will positively affect the solution of the problem of environmental pollution.
The note says that Samsung plans to continue using recycled and used materials and recycled paper. According to experts, about 640,000 tons of old fishing nets are thrown into the water every year: “Ghost nets capture and entangle marine life, damage coral reefs and natural habitats, and even end up in our food and water sources.”
The announcement of the flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S22 series is scheduled for February 9th. The series of top devices will include the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra.
In September 2021, Apple reported that the design of the iPhone contains fragments of plastic from bottles – they are used in antennas. Also, when creating smartphones, only recycled rare earth elements are used.
