The Elec: Samsung will produce up to 7 million smartphones in China

Samsung Corporation will increase the share of smartphones produced in China. This was reported by the Korean publication The Elec.

According to media sources, Samsung intends to produce up to seven million smartphones in factories in China in 2024. Previously, the company expected that partners in this region would release 4.4 million devices.

The company works with Chinese partners using the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) method. In a broad sense, the term JDM means that a foreign customer produces its products using local enterprises. Sources of The Elec spoke about a similar pattern of Samsung’s relationship with the local market in the spring of 2022.

According to experts, Samsung’s share in the Chinese market is traditionally not very large. In turn, the JDM method, in which the company shares a significant portion of its revenue with a local manufacturer, allows Samsung to save money.

Journalists named the Galaxy C55 smartphone as one example of JDM cooperation. This model was released exclusively for the Chinese market. Unlike the globally available devices, the Samsung Galaxy C55 has a Qualcomm processor instead of Exynos and a leather back panel instead of a plastic panel.

In April, Bloomberg sources found out that Apple would consider moving the production of gadgets to Indonesia. Thus, the corporation intends to reduce its dependence on China.
