“All Teslas are out.” The plan for subsidies for the purchase of electric cars in Poland will include two criteria

You will be able to get funding for the purchase of an electric car. The government has chosen a carrot instead of a stick, which is why it will replace taxes on combustion cars with subsidies for “electrics”. However, they will not apply to top-shelf cars.

– The EU is switching to electric transport and we cannot stand by, but we must do it in a way that does not cause a revolution and does not punish people for driving combustion cars when they cannot afford electric cars – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska in an interview with money.pl. Nałęcz, Minister of Funds. During the meeting, she admitted to some extent that the previously announced restrictions imposed on owners of combustion cars could be relaxed.

“In Polish conditions this is unacceptable”

Let us remind you that by 2035 the European Union wants to reduce CO2 emissions from new passenger cars and delivery vans by 100%. This is to be achieved, among others, by: introduction of a registration fee and, together with it, a one-off tax, the amount of which will depend on the fuel consumption standard (EURO) of a given vehicle. In addition, the EU Council adopted a ban on registering combustion cars after 2035. However, Poland opposes the introduction of new levies.

– When it comes to fees for combustion cars, we decided that something that may be justified in other countries – giving a tax impulse to encourage people to switch to electric cars – is unacceptable in Polish conditions – said the minister in an interview. – This is not the stage at all, it is too expensive, the market is not developed enough, so people’s appetite for electric cars is moderate and for good reasons. So we need to start with incentives, as is the case in 20 EU countries, she added.

There will be subsidies for electricians. The minister reveals the details

Subsidies are available to encourage Poles to replace their combustion car with an electric one. The minister assured that they will be constructed in such a way that they cannot be used by wealthy people who can afford an electrician. – All Teslas are out. There will simply be no subsidies for top-shelf cars, only mid-range ones, as well as the possibility of leasing and purchasing used electric cars, she said. The subsidies are to be targeted only at private consumers. Two criteria are to be introduced: income and car prices. People with lower income will therefore have a chance to receive more support. Such a provision was to be included in the amended provisions of the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO). – If someone scraps an old diesel, they will have a chance for higher funding – explained Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

At the end of April, the head of the Ministry of Climate, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, announced that the tax on combustion cars will be replaced by subsidies for electric vehicles. “Puls Biznesu” reported at the beginning of the month that the government is preparing a new subsidy program for used electric cars. According to the information published at that time, approximately PLN 1.6 billion was to be allocated for subsidies.
