Athletes and coaching staff celebrate Brazil’s selection as host of the 2027 Women’s World Cup

This Friday, Brazil was chosen as host for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The announcement excited the athletes and the coaching staff, who celebrated the decision.

Former player Aline Pellegrino, Olympic and world runner-up in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and the current CBF competitions manager, thanked those involved and stated that the tournament will be a success.

“I would like to congratulate all the women who work and have worked, the Pioneers, the current athletes, for this World Cup in 2027. This is a victory for women’s football. I want to thank all the support from FIFA, Conmebol, CBF and the Government Federal, who believed in and supported our campaign. I’m sure we have the potential to hold the biggest Women’s World Cup in history.”

When chosen as the host, Brazil surpassed the joint candidacy of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Players Aline Gomes and Rafaelle emphasized the importance of this achievement for the growth of the sport in the country.

“Holding the World Cup here in our country, in our stadiums and with our fans is, above all, feeding dreams and encouraging them. And adding to all this the visibility that a Women’s Cup can bring to Brazil is reaffirming for so many other girls spread across the most distant parts of the country as possible”, said Rafaelle.

“I had the opportunity to experience preparation for the World Cup in 2023 and it was an unforgettable, inexplicable feeling and a unique moment. It’s incredible to know that our country will host this competition, which will bring great visibility to us women and also to women’s football in Brazil”, reported Aline.

The current coach of the Women’s Team, Arthur Elias, hopes to hold a great competition and aims to be champion of the tournament, something that would be unprecedented for the Brazilian women’s team.

“This is a unique moment. Let’s all work together with great dedication over the next three years towards our great objective, which is to win the World Cup in our country. And thus inspire and make a dream come true for so many children, women, supporters and fans of the our team.”

Finally, Dorival JΓΊnior, coach of the Brazilian men’s team, celebrated the selection and praised the work carried out by the CBF.

“Congratulations to Brazilian women’s football for this beautiful achievement. After hard work, we are very happy for the success of the CBF’s work and FIFA’s nomination. I am sure we will have one of the best championships in history. Good things will come” , said Dorival.
