9to5Mac: Apple has stopped producing problematic eco-leather cases for iPhone
Apple has stopped producing problematic eco-leather cases for the iPhone and other gadgets. This was reported by 9to5Mac.
Media journalists referred to an insider under the nickname Kosutami, who stated, that the company has canceled the production of the failed FineWoven cases. FineWoven is a brand of cases and accessories for iPhone and other gadgets made from eco-leather.
According to the insider, the entire accessory production line was stopped and dismantled. The author noted that Apple could launch the production of cases made of other materials – for example, faux suede, also known as Alcantara.
FineWoven accessories appeared in the fall of 2023 as an alternative to cases and straps made from genuine leather. Apple said that for the sake of caring for the environment, they decided to completely abandon natural materials. However, users of the accessories criticized them due to their poor quality.
At the end of February, Apple responded to criticism of iPhone cases made from recycled materials. Representatives of the corporation stated that all products under the FineWoven brand meet the company’s high standards.
