Have you been added to the debtor’s list? Be careful with this message. You can lose PLN 1,300

For several days now, Poles have been receiving SMS messages warning them about the risk of being included on the “list of debtors”. These messages are an attempt to extort money, and their credibility is enhanced by the fact that the sender addresses us using his name and surname.

For several days now, we have been contacted by users who have received text messages informing them that they have been entered “on the list of debtors”. Interestingly (and alarmingly), in these messages, senders address recipients using their real names and surnames.

[IMIĘ I NAZWISKO] We inform you about the risk of making a new entry on the list of debtors. Download a report about yourself at BazaWindykacyjna.pl. Password: [HASŁO]

– this is the content of the suspicious SMS. After clicking on the link, we are redirected to the website below, which – it must be admitted with sadness – looks quite reliable.

“Have you received an SMS? You can be included in the debtors’ database! Check yourself without incurring any fees before receiving the report! Click the ‘Order Report’ button and log in with the password received in the SMS. You have not received an SMS? You can still check the database, but you will have to pay a fee in while placing an order,” reads the message posted on the website.

BazaWindykacyjna.pl is a fraud attempt. Don’t click on the link, delete the SMS

The information about the lack of “any fees before receiving the report” is theoretically true. The invoice for the service is issued to us after the document is generated, which – consciously or not – we agree to when we accept the service regulations. The promotional price for the report is PLN 189.99. If we do not pay it within 24 hours, the amount increases to almost PLN 1,300.

The regular price of the Service is PLN 1,299.99 and is payable in the ‘postpaid’ model, i.e. after the Service has been completed within the payment deadline of April 16, 2024 (24 hours from the conclusion of this Agreement).

However, this is not the end of the story. If we are late with payment, we will have to pay high interest rates. Additionally, the company threatens us with entering the company into the National Debt Register.

In the event of failure to make timely payment by the Ordering Party, the Parties agree that all reminders and demands for payment at the amicable (pre-litigation) stage, and in the event of failure also at a later time, will be payable by the Ordering Party and added to the total amount of arrears. The parties agree on the following prices: Telephone call: PLN 3.00, text message: PLN 1.50, traditional letter: PLN 40.00, visit of a local debt collector: PLN 150.00. In the event of failure to pay by the Ordering Party within the deadline specified in §4.1, the Ordering Party agrees to place information on its debt in the public Register of Debtors maintained by the Contractor, and in other public online debt exchanges and registers, and the National Debt Register at the pre-litigation stage and at a later stage.

Where does BazaWindykacyjna.pl get our phone number and personal data?

The domain BazaWindykacyjna.pl was registered at the end of March this year. Interestingly, the website also operates, among others, under the domain TwojDlug.pl, which was also registered just a few weeks ago. Moreover, the company Work Select Logistyka Sp. z o. o., which is responsible for the entire procedure, does not have a very long history – it was established on March 12, 2024.

As Niebezpiecznik.pl notes, great doubts are raised not only by the way the company operates, but also by how it obtained our personal data.

We recommend that everyone who received this SMS and perceives it as spam send a request for information to the e-mail address iod@BazaWindykacyjna.pl as to the basis on which ‘Work Select Logistyka Sp. z o. o. processes your data and when you consented to it. Pursuant to the GDPR, the company is obliged to provide you with such information, and if it fails to do so, you can and should submit a complaint against this company to the Personal Data Protection Office.

It’s hard not to get the impression that the way the BazaWindykacyjna website works is very similar to the case of the famous Pobieraczek. In that case, the website’s creators also demanded high fees after opening a supposedly free account, using numerous legal loopholes contained in the unclear regulations.

Finally, we would like to remind you that if you want to check whether you are in arrears with your debts, TV installments or whether someone has taken out a loan using your data, It is a credible and reliable platform that does not hide information about the actual costs of preparing a report.
