CNBC: Apple Vision Pro costs $1,542, priced at $3,499
The cost of components for Apple Vision Pro AR glasses is about half the retail price of the device. CNBC TV channel reports this.
Media journalists referred to information disclosed by Omdia analysts, who found that the cost of all parts of Apple’s augmented reality glasses is $1,542. This is 44 percent of the cost of the gadget in stores. Analysts have noted that the actual price of the Vision Pro is higher than the price of the competitive Meta Quest Pro, which is $999. For comparison, the cost of parts for the iPhone 15 Pro Max was $558, with a minimum price of $1,199.
The most expensive component of the headset was named two micro OLED displays made by Sony, each of them costs $228. According to analysts, high-quality screens with a resolution of 3380 pixels provide a special user experience. The cost of the displays exceeds the cost of the M2 and R1 chips, as well as all the sensors.
According to Omdia analysts, the high cost of the gadget explains the high cost of the product. Experts have suggested that in the future Apple will be able to streamline production and cut costs to develop a more affordable headset.
At the end of February, doctor Vladislav Vorobievsky spoke about the potential health hazards from Apple Vision Pro glasses. According to him, when using the headset, the neck, back muscles and eyes may hurt.
