How to clean silver? Immerse in the aspirin solution for an hour

Many of us have been using (acetylsalicylic acid) to combat headaches and other ailments almost forever. However, few people realize that the popular agent can also be used to… clean jewelry. All you need to do is take just one tablet from the medicine cabinet and dissolve it in a bowl of warm water. Then put the tarnished silver jewelry into the container and wait about 1 hour. Gently brush the trinkets with a brush, rinse them in water (not over the tap, so they don’t accidentally fall into the drain!) and polish them with a dry cloth. You will quickly notice that the silver has regained its former shine. However, remember not to clean jewelry with decorative eyes at home. There is a possibility that they could be damaged.

How to clean silver? Aspirin is not everything

In addition to using aspirin, you can also successfully clean silver using completely different home methods. If you have silver cutlery at home that no longer looks very nice, renovate it with water, salt and aluminum foil. How?

  1. Take a large bowl from the cupboard (preferably plastic, under no circumstances metal).
  2. Line the bottom of the container with aluminum foil and place the cutlery inside.
  3. Dissolve salt in water in a 1:1 ratio and pour the liquid into the bowl with cutlery.
  4. After a few hours, rinse the items in clean water and polish dry with a soft cloth.

Similarly to a solution of salt and water, washing powder will also work, which, combined with the liquid, will create foam that reaches even the furthest and dirtiest corners of the silver. Just pour a glass of powder into a bowl, pour hot water over it, mix and put the silver inside. After 5 minutes, rinse in water and polish with a soft cloth.

  2. Baking soda. Combine the product with water to create a thick paste and apply to dirty silver. After about 30 minutes, rinse them in clean water and dry them.
  3. Ketchup. Just spread it on the silver, rub it in and wait 5-10 minutes. After this time, rinse in water to remove any ketchup remnants and polish.
