Sony PlayStation Portal received a weak Snapdragon 662 processor

A blogger under the nickname Jacob R showed the insides of the Sony PlayStation Portal portable console. The video was published on YouTube.

According to the enthusiast, the device does not have visible screws, so to dismantle it you need to remove the plastic covers on the controllers. You also need to disconnect the triggers. The blogger noted that at this stage the process of disassembling the device did not cause him any difficulties.

The specialist gained access to the internal details of the PlayStation Portal, noting that the device is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor, released in 2019. This chip is considered relatively weak, so the performance of the Portal device is at the level of inexpensive smartphones.

Jacob R also noted that even to replace the battery, you will have to disassemble almost the entire device, since the battery is glued to the motherboard. The Portal display is also glued into the body.

PlayStation Portal is a game streaming console from Sony. Priced at $199, the device does not work standalone: to run games, you must be connected to a PlayStation 5 console.

Sony announced the PlayStation Portal, a compact streaming console, at the end of August. The gadget received an eight-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 pixels and a frequency of 60 hertz and a DualSense controller.
