The case of the murder of surgeon Edwin Arrieta, committed in Thailand in early August, continues to make the news.
On the same day, Monday, November 13, 2023, within a few hours, two key pieces of information emerged that continue to mark the twists and turns in media crime.
Earlier, Daniel Sancho told the court he had pleaded not guilty to the murder. He disagrees that there was premeditation and confirms that the death of Arrieta, who was from Lorica, Colombia, was an accident.
Daniel Sancho says there is a witness
But a Spanish TV program discovered a trick that the 29-year-old chef pulled off in court.
This is an alleged witness who would corroborate Daniel Sancho’s statements.
Antena 3 reported on Monday afternoon: “In ‘And now Sonsoles’ we have exclusively learned that Daniel Sancho has a witness who can prove the chef’s innocence regarding the accusation that the murder was premeditated.”
Daniel Sancho accepted his guilt regarding mutilating and hiding the victim’s body parts.

Sancho, EFE explained, “attended a preliminary hearing of approximately 90 minutes in which the judge read out to him the three crimes the prosecutor accuses him of: premeditated murder, destruction of other people’s documentation and damaging and disappearing parts of the body of the victim. “.
The chef, who for the first time had a Thai-to-Spanish interpreter available as he requested from the court, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, the Spanish press reported.
Now, with the news of the existence of a witness, Antena 3 shared that Sancho showed concern because that person “is outside Thailand and I feared it would not arrive on November 27th.
This was conveyed to the Samui District Court, Koh Samui, Thailand, where they told him he didn’t need to be there.
“The death was an accident”: Daniel Sancho pleads not guilty to the murder of Edwin Arrieta. What happens next in the case?
That day will not be the day when the witnesses will have to testify, who will also have to be on a list that Daniel Sancho will provide to his Thai lawyer, the Spanish media added.
Meanwhile, Rodolfo Sancho, the detainee’s father, upon his arrival at the court in Samui, the press asked him if what his son did was premeditated and he replied: “Of course not. If that wasn’t the case, there wouldn’t have been a fight, right? Look at the laws.”

New key date in the judicial process: November 27
“For the first time, the Thai lawyer representing the family of Edwin Arrieta went to court in Samui on Monday, November 13.”
On Monday, November 27, “Arrieta’s family’s request to be part of the indictment will be studied,” EFE announced.
Also on the 27th, “a process of verification of evidence from the prosecution and defense will be carried out, which will give way to a trial that could take place between February and April 2024.”
Videos recorded by Edwin Arrieta in Spain come to light: he accompanied Daniel Sancho when he opened a ‘hamburger restaurant’ in Thailand two months before the tragedy
Defense of the Arrieta
Lawyers for the surgeon’s family are not surprised the chef has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
In the program “And now Sonsoles” Juan Gonzalo Ospina did not rule out that the son of Rodolfo Sancho could serve time in Spain. “It is a possibility and we have to wait if he is found guilty.”
