The ROC called the FIG criteria for admitting Russian gymnasts an ode to segregation
The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) assessed the criteria of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) for admitting Russians to tournaments. The statement is posted on the organization’s Telegram channel.
The ROC called the conditions for Russians an ode to segregation and savagery. “The already most impersonal gymnasts and gymnasts are asked to perform in a monochromatic outfit. In rhythmic gymnastics, where leotard design is a separate art and an element of production,” the message notes.
On November 10, FIG revealed the conditions for admitting Russians to international tournaments. Team members should not have connections with the army or law enforcement agencies, and they should not support the special operation. In addition, athletes’ uniforms should be light blue, rhythmic gymnastics apparatus should be completely white, and the musical accompaniment should not hint at nationality.
Russian gymnasts have not taken part in tournaments since March 2022 due to FIG sanctions.
