The minimum wage in St. Petersburg from November 1, 2023 will increase by 1,500 rubles and amount to 25 thousand rubles. This was reported by the press service of Smolny. The new minimum wage will be 34.2% higher than the cost of living for the working population, which is 16,452 rubles.
The city administration signed a regional agreement on the minimum wage for 2023–2024 and the obligations of the parties for 2024. The document was signed by the governor of the Northern capital Alexander Beglov, the president of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg Anatoly Turchak and the acting chairman of the Leningrad Federation of Trade Unions Maria Artyukhina.
According to Beglov, tripartite agreements have become a guarantee of social stability in St. Petersburg. “Their effect is much broader than the minimum wage. They protect city residents in the field of employment, labor protection, education, social protection, housing and communal services, transport, medical services, and environmental safety,” noted the head of the city.
Let us remind you that the Northern capital boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. So, over the last year it decreased by another quarter and amounted to 1.4%.
