The series about a priest who plays the role of a detective has been enjoying unflagging popularity among viewers for years and has been gathering a loyal crowd of viewers. The production, starring Artur Żmijewski, has been broadcast on TVP since November 11, 2008. The production had many seasons in total, each of which had thirteen episodes. That’s all in the currently broadcast. the 30th season of the series. As it turns out, TVP’s financial condition is not the best, so president Mateusz Matyszkowicz, looking for savings, made a decision that may disappoint viewers of the series, as well as other flagship productions of the public broadcaster.
Viewers will not see further episodes of “Ojca Mateusz”. TVP is looking for savings
The president of TVP, Mateusz Matyszkowicz, is looking for savings due to the poor financial condition of the public broadcaster. Therefore, he decided to shorten the premiere of several of the station’s flagship productions in the autumn schedule. So they will disappear from the screens at the end of November, even though they were supposed to be broadcast in December. According to information, the changes will affect, among others: fans of the series “Father Mateusz”. Although a full season of the priest-detective was filmed, i.e. 13 episodes, viewers will see only 8 this year. The last premiere episode will be released on November 23, and later fans of the series will be able to watch old episodes.
This is a last minute decision, because there have been other talks on this topic so far and the schedule was supposed to go according to plan. The entire season of the series was to be broadcast by the end of the year. The outstanding episodes will be included in the new season. This means that in the future schedule, if the series is continued, less of it will be produced.
Unexpected changes in the TVP schedule. The decision will affect “One of Ten” and other game shows
Apart from “Father Mateusz”, as part of the station’s efforts to save money, it was also decided not to broadcast new episodes of the game show “One of Ten”. According to initial plans, TVP was to broadcast the 141st series of productions with Tadeusz Sznuk from November 28. Cost-cutting decisions changed them. From that day on, viewers will be able to watch reruns of the 134th edition of the show. A similar fate awaits “Wheels of Fortune” and “Va Banque” broadcast on TVP2.
