Artificial intelligence, Biden and the first regulations in the USA. In the background, among others biological and nuclear weapons

Today, President Joe Biden will introduce the first regulations regarding artificial intelligence systems in the USA. There will be a requirement to test the most advanced AI products to ensure they are not used to produce biological or nuclear weapons.

“As the capabilities of artificial intelligence increase, so do its consequences for the security of Americans,” we read in the White House press release informing about the regulation that President Joe Biden will sign in the evening Polish time (8:30 p.m.). It is intended to protect Americans from potential threats related to rapidly developing artificial intelligence systems.

In addition to requiring testing of such systems for the risk of their use in the production of biological or nuclear weapons, it introduces an obligation to report the results of such tests to federal authorities. The US government will develop testing standards to ensure that artificial intelligence systems “are safe and trustworthy.” The regulation also aims to protect Americans from fraud and establish standards for detecting AI-generated content. The prepared regulations are also intended to protect the privacy of American citizens. – Given the pace of development of this technology, we cannot operate at a normal pace. We have to act fast, really fast – preferably faster than the technology itself, White House chief of staff Jeff Zients told CNN.

Artificial intelligence. Opportunity or threat?

There is a common belief among Polish employees that artificial intelligence will have a significant impact on the labor market in Poland. Some of them see AI as a great opportunity, but many see a possible drop in wages or job cuts. At the same time, few people are afraid of the coming revolution. A new study of the impact of AI on the labor market in Poland brings both good and bad news. As part of a new study prepared by Cpl Poland Just Join IT and RocketJobs.pl, the authors asked over 100 companies and 600 employees from Poland (mostly from the IT industry) about the market sentiment regarding the development of AI. – wrote BartÅ‚omiej Pawlak.
