Defective Elbrus cars started to be sold in Russia

Russian stores started selling Elbrus processors written off in production. This was reported on the Imaxai marketplace website.

According to the representatives of the trade enterprise, the store offers the Elbrus-8SV processor. The chip that appeared in the assortment of the marketplace did not pass full functional testing and was rejected at an early stage. “There can be a lot of reasons for rejection: freezing, some blocks inside the processor do not work, and just a defect in the factory,” the message says.

It is clarified that the specialists of MCST JSC from Moscow are engaged in the sorting of domestic components for computers. The chips that have passed the test are used to make personal computers and server equipment. Defective processors are offered as a souvenir for 2500 rubles.

“When a one-time order is reached at the factory of several tens of thousands of Elbrus series processors, it becomes economically profitable to reject the crystals at the factory before packaging,” explained at Imaxai.

At the end of the summer, the Avtomatika concern presented the first budget computer based on the domestic Elbrus-2S3 processor. The PC is positioned as a cheap office PC, its chip has two sixth-generation Elbrus cores with a clock frequency of 2000 megahertz.
