Two men were sentenced to 34 and 22 years in prison for murder and abuse of minors

The crimes were committed in the provinces of Los Ríos and Pastaza.

A Court of Criminal Guarantees sentenced Stiwae LT to 34 years and six in prison for the murder of a girl. The incident occurred in the Balseiro area of ​​the Quinsaloma canton, in the Los Ríos province.

In addition, psychological treatment was arranged for the victim’s parents. The amounts of the fine and full reparation will be notified in the written judgment.

During the trial hearing, the prosecutor in the case presented as main probative elements: the testimonies of family members and police agents and investigators who intervened in the process. Also that of the experts who carried out the recognition of the scene of the events and the gathering of evidence (clothes used by the aggressor and the weapon).

The crime occurred in December 2020. The girl’s mother rested at the home of one of her brothers, whom she had come to visit, while the minor played in the yard. But suddenly, the victim entered the room with a cut at the neck.

Immediately relatives notified the National Police, which allowed the capture of the suspect and the Prosecutor’s Office began a criminal process against him.

Later, the girl was treated at the Jaime Roldós basic hospital in the Ventanas canton and then at the Francisco Icaza Bustamante in Guayaquil, where her death was confirmed due to the cut on her neck.

The crime of murder, typified in article 140 of the Comprehensive Organic Penal Code (COIP), stipulates a custodial sentence of 22 to 26 years. In this case, they were considered aggravating to reach the sanction imposed.

Minor rape

A Pastaza Criminal Guarantees Court sentenced Luis A. to 22 years in prison, as the direct author of the crime of rape against his stepdaughter.

The magistrates ordered treatment and psychological assistance for one year for the victim, as part of comprehensive reparation, in addition to the payment of a fine of 600 unified basic salaries.

At the trial hearing, the prosecutor Johana Padilla presented as evidence: the anticipated testimony of the victim, the testimony of her mother, the medical examiner, the psychologist, the social worker and experts from the National Police.
