iPhone 15 found no restrictions on USB-C

Ars Technica: iPhone 15 will work with third-party USB-C chargers

New Apple smartphones will need to work equally with all USB-C accessories – official and third-party. This was reported by Ars Technica.

Media authors commented on early reports from insiders that Apple will limit USB-C functionality in new smartphones. It was believed that the charging speed through third-party accessories would be lower than through official ones. Ars Technica specialists checked the new smartphones and stated that they did not find any restrictions.

“We can confirm that early reports were incorrect and iPhones have completely standard USB-C ports that work perfectly with all existing cables,” the journalists noted. The authors emphasized that iPhone 15 devices will interact with all USB 3 and USB-PD (Power Delivery) chargers.

Journalists recalled that Apple had previously certified the production of charging cables for Lighting. Non-original wires may not work with the iPhone or may operate at speed limits. At the same time, the material says that the company can launch a Made for iPhone program and produce special chargers.

In March, Laptop Mag journalists said that Apple’s decision to certify USB-C cables may be contrary to EU laws. In this case, the American company may be fined by the European regulator.
