Apple Watch and Xiaomi Mi Band are leading in their categories in terms of sales in Russia. This is stated in the press release of the group “M.Video-Eldorado”, received by the editorial board of “Lenta.ru”.
It follows from the company’s report that in the nine months of 2021, sales of smart watches and fitness trackers reached about four million pieces and 35 billion rubles, which is 15 and 45 percent, respectively, more than a year earlier. Moreover, in the category of wearable devices, smartwatches are in the lead. “On the big screen 24/7, users can analyze health information, monitor stress levels, exercise consciously and track activity,” the authors note.
Among the manufacturers of smart watches in Russia, Apple is in the lead. The Apple Watch SE model with a 40 mm dial was named the best-selling model on the market by analysts. The top 5 also includes Apple Watch Series SE with a 44mm screen, Apple Watch Series 6 at 44mm, Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 at 40mm.
In the category of fitness trackers, the most popular model was Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5. The top five also included Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6, Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 and Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 with NFC, Honor Band 5.
“The choice in the form factor of smart watches is regularly expanding, new opportunities for communication, health care, training are added, their autonomy and the amount of built-in memory are growing, and the NFC sensor for contactless payments has become a standard,” said the director of the Digital Technology group “M.Video-Eldorado” Nikita Tikhvinsky.
In early August, M.Video-Eldorado analysts said that sales of smart watches in Russia for the first time outstripped sales of fitness trackers. According to the company, since the second half of 2020, sales of smartwatches and fitness bracelets have leveled off, and since the beginning of 2021 there has been a turning point.
