CERT Polska, a team that operates within the structures of NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network), established to prevent breaches of security on the Internet, has been dealing with a new campaign aimed at intimidating people for some time. This time they started threatening their victims with death.

The method of operation of fraudsters is to send e-mails to addresses that are publicly available on the Internet or to those that ended up on the network as a result of . Scammers post false information about ordering the murder of the addressee in them in order to intimidate them. They ensure that they see his every move, writes , which refers to the NASK report. Experts give an example of such an email. Its sender, who introduces himself as the “Angel of Death”, argues that he has been ordered to kill the recipient. She explains that she will complete the “mission” if she does not receive money from him. He also convinces the victim that reporting the matter to the police will not solve his problem.

Fraudsters use very different methods online. At one time, they often impersonated bank employees to phishing login details and steal funds accumulated on the account. Criminals can also, for example, encourage you to install applications on your smartphone or send text messages. Suspicious messages should be reported to the CERT Polska team via the cert.pl website or to the e-mail address cert@cert.pl.
