Samsung’s new foldable smartphones set sales record

A million users have purchased Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 foldable smartphones. This is reported by the publication GSM Arena, citing sources in South Korea.

According to insiders, Samsung has managed to collect more than a million pre-orders for the sale of new folding flagships. The authors noted that the corporation was able to achieve such a result in a week – pre-orders for models in Samsung’s homeland were opened on August 1.

Samsung also managed to set a record. In 2022, the firm was able to accept 970,000 pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Fold4 models. Most often, users purchased the Galaxy Z Flip5 – the clamshell accounted for 70 percent of orders. The more affordable Galaxy Z Flip5 received 714,000 orders, while the Galaxy Z Fold5 received 306,000 orders, sources said.

“We can understand why users choose the Galaxy Z Flip5 – it has a larger screen that is much more comfortable to use than any of its predecessors,” GSM Arena journalists explained the popularity of the device.

At the end of July, journalists noticed that Samsung’s flagship foldable smartphones appeared in Russian retail. The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 models were noticed in Russia ahead of time – two weeks before the start of global sales, which is scheduled for August 11.
