Seeds for the Future, Ecuadorian students will be trained by Huawei program

It is an initiative that aims to develop local talents in technologies and provide training to students in all areas.

Huawei Technologies, a leading telecommunications company, launched its flagship program Seeds for The Future In Ecuador, the event was attended by Andrea Montalvo, General Undersecretary of the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (Senescyt), as well as authorities from the participating universities, selected students and directors of Huawei Ecuador.

Training online with Huawei headquarters

There are 20 students benefiting from this scholarship which will be developed in virtual mode due to the health emergency. Students will receive training online with the Huawei headquarters, mainly the centers of excellence in China, where they will be trained in topics related to innovation related to the development of telecommunications in order to collaborate and share experiences to plan the future of Information Technology and Communication (ICT).

Andrea Montalvo, representative of the Senescyt, thanked Huawei for the support provided to the education sector and stressed the importance of young Ecuadorians preparing and learning more about the technology industry, acquiring skills and competencies for their personal and professional development with tools of quality. “It is essential for Senescyt to establish strategic alliances that allow us to promote the construction of a different Ecuador of opportunities that we all long for. It will surely be a unique experience for our young students who are eager to start international training ”, he concluded.

Seeds For The Future, inspiring local talent

Ángel Song, general manager of Huawei Ecuador, mentioned that the program seeks to inspire local talent, improve knowledge exchange, promote greater understanding and interest in the ICT sector and encourage participation in the digital community. “Throughout the 19 years of presence in Ecuador, Huawei has led the development of the ICT industry with cutting-edge technologies, while investing heavily in the cultivation of ICT professionals and talents,” he said.

For his part, Carlos Larrea, Ecuador’s ambassador to China, congratulated Huawei for one more year of Seeds for the Future, a high-level academic program for Ecuadorian students. “Many thanks to the students for being part of this important bilateral initiative that strengthens relations between Ecuador and China at a higher level. Programs like this are precisely the ones that are going to sow the seeds of those projects to work on in the future ”, emphasized Larrea.

Finally, Patricia Zurita, a selected student at the University of the Americas, highlighted that those who enter the program “have high expectations about how to achieve broad and global knowledge on cutting-edge technology, as well as a cultural exchange from within Huawei.”

Training talents worldwide

In 2021, there will be more than 3,500 talents participating in the program from some 120 countries and regions who will face the new challenges posed by the transformation and constant growth of the ICT industry. This year, while participants will not be able to meet in person, they will be able to meet up with their peers online during the program and join the global Alumni community to share ideas and interact for the long term.

In this way, Huawei maintains its commitment to the country, by contributing to the development of ICT education, through the transfer of knowledge and the promotion of learning in students and interest in the telecommunications industry.
