In Manabi cities, roads are lit with Christmas decorations

Central streets of several Manabi cities began to be decorated with Christmas lights and decorations as part of a proposal for economic reactivation to attract visitors at Christmas time and at the end of the year.

In Manta and Portoviejo, each of these councils has allocated more than $ 100,000 for lighting spaces. In the case of the Manabi port, it was carried out in a part of the Malecón avenue; in the capital of Manabí, on a section of Urbina avenue, one of the busiest routes in that canton.

In Manta, more than 400 meters of LED light hoses were installed. Agustín Intriago, mayor of that canton, said that this tourist attraction could generate about 9 million dollars for the arrival of visitors to observe the arrangements.

“Manta becomes beautiful to comfort our spirit after so many losses and to receive in the best way all those who want to visit and enjoy us,” Intriago highlighted.

In Portoviejo, this proposal has already been applied since last year. Diana Bravo, director of the Department of Tourism Development of the municipality of this town, said that after a census carried out it was found that businesses near Urbina Avenue had an increase in their sales of more than 50% of what they traditionally sold before the location of these Christmas lights and decorations.

For this year, according to Bravo, it is expected that this increase will be maintained or that the level of business sales will improve, mainly those dedicated to the sale of clothing, stores and pharmacies.

“We invite you to visit us, without forgetting the biosecurity measures against COVID-19,” declared Bravo.

In the Rocafuerte canton, the central park is also already arranged to locate Christmas arrangements and even a Christmas tree with flashing lights in yellow and green colors, crowned by a giant star. (I)
