United States President Joe Biden approved the disaster declaration this Saturday in response to the recent storms and floods that have hit New York State.

Biden “ordered the allocation of federal aid” to be added to approved state, tribal and local funds for areas hit by storms between July 9 and 10, details Europe Press.

These funds will be used to repair or replace facilities damaged by storms and flooding in Clinton, Dutchess, Essex, Hamilton, Ontario, Orange, Putnam and Rockland counties.

Lai Sun Yee, of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will be responsible for coordinating federal operations in affected areas, the White House said in a statement.
