At least two people were killed and six others injured on Thursday morningWednesday night in Ecuador, by a shooting in the financial district of Auckland cityin northern New Zealand.
The 24-year-old attacker, wearing an electronic bracelet, entered a construction zone in the financial district around 7 a.m. Police confirmed the shooter was dead.
A police officer is among the six injured.the country’s Prime Minister, Chris Hipkins, said on his Facebook account.
“The view of the authorities is that there is no risk to national security. There is no change in the threat level to New Zealand’s security. (…) It appears to be the action of a single individual,” Hipkins reported.
In addition, he reported the event to the organizers of the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and have confirmed that they are proceeding with the planned schedule.
Local authorities asked the population to avoid the site of the event.
