To help with the expenses associated with this situation, plus those of the family, the couple’s friends publicized this tragedy on the GoFundMe platform.
Mónica Miller, a friend of the now widow, told NBC, according to Univisión: “The happiest day of their lives turned into a day of tragedy. Johnnie went from planning a wedding to planning a funeral.”

Univisión replicated part of the text posted asking for help: “Johnnie Mae and Toraze planned to live together for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, Toraze breathed his last shortly after saying “I do”.
Shocked, the DJ hired for the party described himself: the couple would celebrate the wedding and birthday of the bride’s grandmother.
Tricia Pugsley, quoted in the media, said that “they went to the hospital and the bride, Johnnie Mae, had to say goodbye to her husband.” The strong image squeezed everyone’s heart and the DJ commented, “Seriously, it’s the saddest thing ever.”
