Forest agents from the Community of Madrid have located a Iberian lynx in this region for the first time in decades and they have rescued him when he was wandering through the area of the city of Banco Santander in the town of Boadilla del Monte.
As reported by Emergencias Comunidad de Madrid 112 this Wednesday, the sighting took place at early afternoonand the forest agents have redirected the cat to a safe forest area, since it was heading to a road junction, where it had a high risk of being run over.
In the released images you can see how the lynx walks next to a financial zone fence. The agents have collected a hair sample for genetic analysis.
The device has been organized after receiving and evaluating information that ensured that, a few days ago, lynxes had been sighted between the municipalities of Villanueva de Perales and Sevilla La Nueva.
A resident of the latter town released images of a feline of this species last week, and the Ministry of the Environment confirmed the return of the lynx to the region, after decades absent, through a wild specimen predictably from Toledo.
