The Vision Pro goggle is a breakthrough. Apple has broken the bank. You’ll have to, too, if you want them

Apple showed the world Vision Pro mixed reality goggles. This can be a real breakthrough, because the device gives possibilities that we have not seen before, like taken straight from science-fiction movies. The entire interface is displayed as an overlay on the physical reality that surrounds us. Technology knocks you off your feet, but so does its price.

On Monday, it showed Vision Pro, i.e. mixed reality goggles. Mixed, not virtual, because unlike competing devices, the magic lies in the EyeSign technology, which allows you to see through glasses and at the same time displays the interface on the reality around us, for example in the room where we are sitting. Assuming Vision Pro, we do not immerse ourselves completely in the virtual world and do not cut off from everything around. This allows you to move freely in them. If someone decides to talk to us while we are wearing Vision Pro, they will see our eyes. Their visibility will be controlled by a physical knob on the device.

Vision Pro is a breakthrough that few people will be able to afford

The goggles are controlled by eye movements, hand gestures and speech. In a few moves, you can extend the screen, which is displayed as if it were suspended, for example, in our living room. In the same way, we can display and enlarge photos and videos, work or browse the Internet. Vision Pro will allow you to display a cinema-size screen in the living room, they also allow you to control the environment around you – if necessary, you can dim the room if you are watching a movie on a sunny day. As it was shown during Monday’s presentation, we can also put a background under the displayed content, thanks to which our living room will change, for example, into a very realistic-looking lake at the edge of the forest.

And all this in great quality. On two small displays, Apple managed to fit up to 23 million pixels, which allows you to display the image in 4K. On the same surface as one pixel in , Vision Pro has as many as 64 of them, which was allowed by micro-oled technology. Apple used as many as 5,000 to create the goggles. patents, so the device is literally packed with technology. So what else does it allow us to do?

There are also speakers that guarantee surround sound. And one that adapts to the environment. What’s more, the camera in Vision Pro allows you to take photos and record videos in 3D. Of course, the depth of the photos can be admired on the goggles screen, which provides an even better experience, because the people in the photos can be life-sized if we want. The device can also display cinema movies in 3D, not only those that we shot ourselves. The video from Apple’s presentation shows the possibilities of the new device in the best way.

The whole thing is controlled by visionOS, a system created specifically for the Vision Pro goggles. But you can connect to them via bluetooth external control devices. Or use the MacBook keyboard and view the image through glasses. Interestingly, you do not need to connect devices in a special way – just put on Vision Pro and look at the computer for the image to be transferred to the goggles. The device is equipped with two batteries, one of which is external. Each of them allows for two hours.

The future is not for everyone. How much do Vision Pros cost?

It is true that the Vision Pro are still relatively large and it is hard to imagine that we will use them all the time, but the possibilities they give resemble what we know from the movie “Minority Report” and other science-fiction works. Apple also learns from the mistakes of competitors. Metaverse from Mark Zuckerberg turned out to be a complete flop, there were not too many people willing to completely immerse themselves in the virtual world. And the candy design of our avatars rather deterred than encouraged to visit it.

Apple instead of virtual proposed mixed reality. And avatars are not simplified versions of ourselves, but the most faithful recreation. Soon, however, everyone will have the opportunity to use this technology. And the equipment will soon not be available to the average Kowalski. Vision Pro costs $ 3,499, which at the exchange rate of June 6 gives us almost 15,000. zloty. In Poland, the prices of this type of devices are usually higher than it would result from a simple conversion of dollars into zlotys.
