Bloomberg: Apple began testing the M3 Pro processor for the new MacBook Pro
Apple has begun testing a new flagship processor for high-performance laptops. It is reported by Bloomberg.
According to the author of the agency Mark Gurman, he received information about the creation of new chips from the App Store developer magazine. Gurman noted that the Apple Silicon processor will be called M3 Pro and will be designed for the next generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The hardware will run macOS 14, which is scheduled to be announced at WWDC 2023.
The specialist noted that the processor will be produced on the basis of TSMC’s three-nanometer process technology, which will provide “a significant increase in performance and energy efficiency.” At the same time, the exact characteristics of the chip are not disclosed. Gurman recalled that the current M2 Pro processor has 10 cores, a 16-core graphics system, and supports at least 16 gigabytes of RAM. It is likely that the M3 Pro will receive at least two additional cores for the CPU and graphics accelerator.
The material also states that Apple has yet to announce the M3 processor, which will be equipped with the base models of MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini computers.
In mid-April, Bloomberg contributor Mark Gurman revealed that Apple would introduce a mixed reality headset next summer. In addition to the device, Tim Cook Corporation announces the xrOS operating system and a software development kit.
