Euskaraz irakurri: EHUk Patxi Goenagaren gramatika sareratu du

The University of the Basque Country has presented today in Bilbao the work “Euskal Gramatika: Egiturak eta Osagaiak”, by the full member of Euskaltzaindia Patxi Goenaga (Azpeitia, 1948), a work that, although it is mainly dedicated to the description of the language, does not renounce theoretical problems.

The grammar, “in a certain way the summary of an entire academic career”, is now available on the website of the public university of the CAV.

It is a grammar that describes the elements of language, which give names to the parts of the work and consists of ten chapters dedicated to independent and simple prayer.

Patxi Goenaga, author of the EGEO grammar, has been an essential reference in modern Basque grammar studies. Azpeitiarra, born in 1948, was Professor of Basque Philology at the UPV / EHU until his retirement, and is a member of Euskaltzaindia.

He published “Gramatika bideetan” at the end of the seventies (Erein, 1978) and brought to the analysis of Basque the then new theoretical model of Noam Chomsky, generative grammar. He also authored the series “Euskal Gramatika: Lehen Urratsak (EGLU)” and “Euskararen Gramatika” (2021), and was editor of Sareko Euskal Gramatika (SEG), along with Pello Salaburu and Ibon Sarasola.

The editor of “Euskal Gramatika: Egiturak eta Osagaiak” has been Beatriz Fernández.
