This Monday, Russian authorities announced the frustrated attempt at illegal infiltration into their territory in the Bryansk border area, a few days after a similar report.
“The intruder exploded in a defense line with mines, created by the Russian armed forces to prevent infiltration and ensure the safety of the inhabitants of border towns,” the region’s governor, Alexander Bogomaz, told Telegram.
According to the authorities, several attempted raids by Ukraine have been reported in recent weeks. On April 6, Bogomaz indicated that border guards thwarted an attempted incursion by “20 men” from Ukraine, who “opened fire on the enemy”.
This came as Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba was skeptical about the chances of success for peace efforts in the conflict with Moscow, saying “Russia wants war”.
“Today Russia wants war. It will take time for peace efforts,” Kuleba said during a visit to Baghdad.
“You cannot say you are for peace while trying to conquer more territory, commit more atrocities, destroy towns and cities,” the minister added during a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein.
