The government of Spain announced the launch of its visa for digital nomadswhich allows foreigners working remotely to stay in Spain for three years and which aims to attract new talent to the European country.
The beneficiaries can travel throughout the region of the European Union without the need for a Schengen visa, as long as they maintain their nomadic worker status. Foreign citizens who do not belong to the EEA (European Economic Area) and who are employees of a company outside Spain can apply for the visa.
Requirements to apply
That visa also allows applicants to bring their spouses and children. In that case, the requested minimum income will increase. Likewise, the worker who wants to apply for the visa must not have a criminal record in Spain or in other countries where he has lived in the last two years.
The consulates in Spain have until March 30 to process the application for this type of visa, but it is not necessary to be in Spain for the application. The process can be carried out in the offices of consulates or diplomatic missions.
