Petroperú: New Talara Refinery continues to operate normally despite heavy rains

The New Talara Refinery (NRT) continues to operate normally and within schedule despite the heavy rainfall affecting Piura and the northern part of the country, said Arturo Rodríguez, manager of the Talara Refinery Project department.

“The Talara refinery is not affected by the rains. We have all the areas without any affectation so far and it does not impact the boot process. The rains have affected the city of Talara, outside the refinery. We are not affected within the refinery,” said Arturo Rodríguez, manager of the Talara Refinery Department at RPP.

In another medium, he highlighted that the rains affect external services such as the electricity supply, which could harm the activities of the oil complex. “The refinery is not an island and this affectation creates problems not only for the Talara refinery, but for all industries,” he said.

In addition, he added that yesterday the rainfall that affected the refinery was generated by the clogging of the channel that collects water and mud from rainfall in Sullana at its outlet to the sea, however, the problem was resolved immediately. “The response maneuvers, in this case teams with heavy machinery, were activated and we immediately began to clean it. Yesterday this issue was already overcome and the channel is still working,” he explained.
