GizmoChina: Huawei will introduce the first satellite-enabled smartwatch

Huawei will be the first in the market to add satellite connectivity to smartwatches. This is reported by the publication GizmoChina.

According to sources, the Chinese company has completed the development of Watch 4 smartwatch and is ready to introduce the device. A distinctive feature of the device may be support for satellite communications. It is clarified that thanks to this option, users will be able to send and receive SMS without cellular communication and integration with a smartphone.

Insiders were unable to clarify whether the communication option will have restrictions and what the cost of the feature will be for the user. It is also unknown when the company will launch the device on the market.

In addition, the material says that Huawei Watch 4 will receive a zirconium case. “This material is four times harder than steel and does not age over time, thanks to which the watch retains its appearance for a long time,” the journalists noted.

Apple was one of the first to add satellite communications support to its devices – the option appeared in iPhone 14 smartphones. As of the end of 2022, the function worked in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany and Ireland.
