Insider: Apple will release a mixed reality helmet at the presentation of the iPhone 15 in September
Apple has delayed the announcement of a mixed reality headset until the fall. Well-known insider Ming-Chi Ko announced this in his blog on Meduim.
According to the specialist, the release of the helmet, which combines the functions of virtual and augmented reality, was delayed. The American company, most likely, will not present the device at the spring presentation and at the WWDC summer event. Ming-Chi Ko attributed the disruption to software problems.
According to Ko’s report, Luxshare ICT is the main device manufacturer for Apple. Mass production of the AR/VR helmet is scheduled for the first half of the year. The specialist suggested that the announcement of the wearable gadget could take place at the presentation of the iPhone 15 series smartphones, which will take place in September.
The author also said that Apple has already planned the release of the second generation headset, which should be shown in 2025. Two companies will be engaged in the production of the device: Foxconn will release a more affordable version of the gadget, Foxconn – a more expensive one.
At the end of January, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman said that the release of the first augmented and virtual reality headset would be extremely risky for Apple. According to an insider, the company is confident that the AR / VR helmet will eventually replace the iPhone and other consumer gadgets.
