This is how the app for video calls works, it seems that users look at the camera while they talk

After the pandemic, video calls increased their use. Little by little they have become one of the ways of communication more common in work, educational and even family environments. However, a situation that is constantly repeated in these calls is the lack of eye contact. Why is this happening?

Users often see the screen and not to the camera of the phone or computer when they talk to someone through Applications of this type. However, the company NVIDIA in charge of manufacturing graphics cardshas developed special software that generates a “filter” virtual, this generates the appearance that the person is looking at the camera, when I might not be looking there.

The digital platform, called “Transmission of NVIDIA”, uses graphics engines on computers to create a face identifier in which the illusion is created that people are looking at the cameras through technology of Machine Learning either Artificial intelligence.

“Eye contact uses artificial intelligence to simulate that you look directly at the camera even when you divert your attention to take notes”, it is stated in the Web page of the company. The option, called in NVIDIA Broadcast ‘eye contact’, is still in beta, although it has also been added to the latest stable version of the app.

On the other hand, this feature can only be used by computers that have certain specific and minimum characteristics, such as a RAM of 8GB and a i5 processor.
