The Prosecutor’s Office reported that Fabián M. will serve preventive detention for the alleged crime of murder of Nelson C., dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences of the Luis Vargas Torres de Esmeraldas University.
The victim was murdered in the Nuevos Horizontes sector on January 18. From that date, the different entities activated the search protocols for those allegedly responsible for the event.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the images captured on the ECU 911 security cameras allowed us to see that the crime was perpetrated by four people aboard motorcycles.

The graphs also showed that these people would have fled to the Isla Piedad sector, in Esmeraldas.
The day after the events, the Prosecutor’s Office detailed, the Police located one of the suspects who fled when he noticed the police presence.
The individual wore a cap and sweater similar to those worn by the alleged perpetrators on the day of the murder.
A teenager was also located in the same sector. Both were arrested.
The minor provided information on the whereabouts of the vehicles with which the murder was carried out.
Upon arrival at the site, two motorcycles were found, one of which would have participated in the event and both had been reported stolen. In that house, located in the Santa Cruz sector, two women were also arrested.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that all the evidence collected during the hearing to formulate charges was presented.

Based on these elements, the flagrante delicto judge ordered pretrial detention for Fabián M. for the alleged crime of murder.
The fiscal instruction will have a duration of thirty days.
The adolescent detained for this case was prosecuted for this same crime in another hearing, in which he was ordered preventive detention.
While, against María Ch. and María M., the Prosecutor’s Office filed charges for the crime of reception. This case will be judged by direct procedure.
The collateral victim of the attack, at the moment, is recovering from the gunshot wounds. (YO)
