MacRumors: iPhone 15, iPad and AirPods will get USB-C port
Apple intends to gradually transfer its popular gadgets to support the USB-C connector. This is reported by MacRumors.
Media specialists analyzed insider reports and revealed Apple devices that should receive a USB-C port in the coming years. The update will affect the brand’s smartphones – according to insider Ming-Chi Ko, the American company may abandon the proprietary Lightning interface in favor of USB-C in 2023, with the release of the iPhone 15. It is specified that Apple is already testing such devices.
In the fall of 2022, the corporation may introduce the iPad, which will also receive a universal port for charging and data transfer. According to journalists, in this way, the 10th generation iPad will be the last Apple tablet to have a USB-C connector. According to rumors, after 2023, the new port may receive a case for charging AirPods headphones.
The authors also noted that some Apple accessories will have a universal connector. These included an external battery MagSafe keyboard Apple Magic Keyboard, trackpad Magic Trackpad and mouse Magic Mouse.
In early June, the European Parliament’s Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection outlined the timing for the introduction of a single charging port for USB-C gadgets.
