O PSG announced on Monday the permanent sale of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to West Ham. The Frenchman was on loan at the England club since July 2021 and signs until 2027.
Formed at the base of the French club, the goalkeeper won three French Championships and two French Cups. Since joining the professional team, Areola has been loaned out to several clubs, such as Real Madrid, villareal and Fulham. His last loan was to West Ham, who opted to exercise the purchase right provided for in the agreement and stay with the goalkeeper.
Areola showed affection for West Ham fans and said he was happy with his new contract.
“The main thing is that I felt loved by the fans last season. Something very important for me is to feel that I am loved. I know that I have to do my job and do everything to make them happy and obviously my teammates, the commission and Xavi Valero too. The weather last season was good, so I just wanted to do everything I could to stay here”, said the player.
The goalkeeper, who has stints with the French national team, was a starter in several Europa Leaguein which West Ham was eliminated in the semi-final by Frankfurt, the champions of the competition.
