Named the deadline for the UEFA decision on the removal of Russian teams

UEFA will decide on the suspension of Russian clubs and national teams next week

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has announced the deadline for making a decision on the suspension of Russian clubs and teams. This became known to “Championship.com”.

According to the source, the decision will be made next week. At the moment, two options are being considered: a suspension for the 2022/2023 season or an extension of the ban until further notice, which was accepted earlier. Thus, Russian clubs will not be able to take part in European competitions next season, and national teams will miss tournaments under the auspices of the union.

On April 29, the Russian Football Union (RFU) began to consider options for the development of football in the country. The European scenario provides for friendly matches until the lifting of sanctions on the RFU, the second option suggests a reorientation to participate in tournaments under the auspices of the Asian Confederation. The third option is to focus on domestic championships.

On February 28, the International Football Federation and UEFA suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in competitions under their auspices. Teams have been excluded from all competitions, including qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
