Corridor from the Iberian Peninsula has won stages in the Tour and in the Giro, he arrives from Astana and has a two-year contract.

The sprinter Italian Elia Viviani (Cofidis) signed for the next three years for the Ineos-Grenadiers, announced this Monday the British formation in a statement.

The next season will coincide in the Ineos with the champion of Spain in Route Omar friar, winner of stages in the Tour and in the Round, whose signing was also announced on Monday. The 31-year-old Santurce rider will arrive from Astana, and his new contract will be for two years.

Viviani and Fraile will be companions of the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz, gold medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games road event, winner of the Giro d’Italia in 2019; second in the Tour of Spain, in 2020; and third in the Tour de France, in 2021.

World champion on track in elimination last week in the Roubaix World Cups (France), Viviani had already raced for the team led by Dave Brailsford, then called Sky, from 2015 to 2017.

“From the moment I removed the equipment I had in mind that one day he would return. I never lost contact with the team, with Dave (Brailsford), Rod (Ellingworth), and with the Italian riders and technicians, ”said Viviani, quoted by her next team.

“The goal for next year is to win as many races as possible, because that’s the job of a sprinter. But I can also pass on my experience ”, indicated the Italian, who he knows what it’s like to win stages in the three grand tours.

Standard bearer of the Italian delegation in the Tokyo Olympics, Viviani (32 years old) conquered the Olympic gold in Rio 2016 in omnium, before achieving bronze in the same discipline at the Games in the Japanese capital. (D)
