UFC champion Charles Oliveira says Peter Yan lost to Aljamain Sterling in grappling
Brazilian champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in lightweight Charles Oliveira explained the loss of the Russian Petr Yan in a duel with the American Aljamain Sterling. He told Match TV about this.
“He is a very good fighter, he has strong punches, he has good wrestling, good tactics. It was in grappling that he lost,” Oliveira said. The Brazilian expressed the hope that Jan will again become a champion.
The fight between Jan and Sterling took place on the night of April 10 in Jacksonville, USA. The American won a split decision victory and defended the UFC bantamweight title. Thus, the Russian could not regain the championship status. After the fight, Yang claimed that he had been robbed of his victory.
The fighters already met in the octagon in March 2021. Then Yang lost the championship belt. The Russian struck an illegal knee and was disqualified.
