Angelika Wołynko died at the age of 31. Two daughters were orphaned
Angelika Wołynko from an early age was passionate about and played for the second-tier Eagle Elbląg. Wołynko found out about breast cancer when she was pregnant with her second daughter Laura. The volleyball player’s family hoped that administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy would help defeat the cancer, but she had to be prepared to buy expensive drugs. One dose of such a drug costs PLN 20,000, and the treatment could last up to a year, which, including the costs of treatment and drugs, would cost PLN 1.5 million.
The volleyball player from Elbląg was helped by, inter alia, , who in February this year donated the Imoco Volley Collegiano T-shirt with signatures for auction. In addition to the Polish representative, the team donated souvenirs, and gave his match jersey to the auction from Lechia Gdañsk. Internet users in total donated PLN 200,000 to support Angelika Wołynko.
The 31-year-old died last Friday, leaving behind two daughters. Condolences for Angelika’s family come from all over Poland, also from the IV Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. National Education Commission in Elbląg, which she attended. “Angela fought bravely to the end, she was fully aware of her condition and what was happening to her. But just as we all believed that there was still hope. Unfortunately, she lost the fight against cancer. This match was unequal” – we read on the website, which was dedicated to helping Elbląg.
