The tight schedule that Palmeiras has due to his participation in the Brazilian championship and the Copa Libertadores will make coach Abel Ferreira make changes to his starting line-up during his visit to Emelec this Thursday, for group A of the South American competition.
The green team thrashed Corinthians 3-0 this Saturday in the derby on the third day of the local tournament. The São Paulo classic was the first match in which the Portuguese coaches Vítor Pereira and Ferreira had the opportunity to face each other, who witnessed the first victory of his squad in the league so far this season.
In the press conference after the duel, the coach of the current Libertadores champion commented on the need to give his players rest.
“This is the third game in a row that this team plays. I’ll have to change it next time, no way. I like to take risks, but there is a limit. To be the best, we have to rest. At least three days,” said Ferreira.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, it’s going to be something new, I don’t know if we’ll be able to play three games in a row (with the same formation), if I’m going to have injuries. I don’t know how our team will be in a few months,” added the coach of the true.
The cup monarch reached 5 points in the Brazilian tournament where he had not yet celebrated a victory. This Sunday he returned to practice for Monday to head to Guayaquil.
Group A of the Libertadores is also made up of Deportivo Táchira from Venezuela and Independiente Petrolero from Bolivia. (D)
