Real Madrid, where CR7 played between 2009 and 2018, said he was “deeply sorry” for the baby’s passing, shares “the pain of the whole family and wants to show their love and affection”
The 37-year-old star, in a message signed together with his Spanish partner of Argentine origin, announced on Monday the death of his son.
“Only the birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live this moment with a little hope and happiness,” wrote the couple, who announced last year that they were expecting twins.
Rival clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Leeds also sympathized with the Portuguese striker, as did teammates Marcus Rashford and David de Gea.
“My thoughts are with you and Georgina. Brother, I’m sorry,” said the English forward.
