The Real Sociedad player Mikel Oyarzabal tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in training so will miss the rest of the season.
The captain will be operated this Thursday by Dr. Mikel Sánchez in Vitoria-Gasteiz and then he will begin his recovery that will last for months.
The club reported in a statement that the player suffered a torsion of the left knee in the session in the imaging tests carried out, the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament was appreciated.
Oyarzabal is so far the top scorer for Real Sociedad and it will be one significant drop for the Royal Society. The Gipuzkoan player was a regular in the Spanish team, but he will not be in the next calls and this injury compromises his participation in the World Cup in Qatar.
