Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Odes Baysultanov spoke about the removal of Russians from international tournaments. This was reported in the Telegram channel “Match TV”.
In his opinion, Western sports functionaries made such a decision because of the fear of competition. Baysultanov called the chance to restart domestic sports a plus of the current situation.
“We need to develop our sport with the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS. I think the countries of Europe will join us when we show our level, ”added the deputy head of the Ministry of Sports.
At the end of February, many international sports organizations began to remove Russians from tournaments. In some disciplines, such as football, hockey, cross-country skiing and biathlon, athletes are completely disqualified. In motorsport, cycling, tennis and chess, Russians can continue playing in a neutral status.
