he is not in the Polish national team for the World Cup competition since the pre-Olympic competition in Willingen. From the beginning of February, he regularly participates in the Continental Cup competitions, where he was already on the podium this season – a week ago, during the competition in Lahti, Finland, where he took 2nd place.
Andrzej Stękała wins in Zakopane! An impressive second jump
On Sunday, in the third Continental Cup competition at Wielka Krokiew, the Polish competitor turned out to be the best! At the halfway point of the competition, Andrzej Stkaa was in 5th place, after a jump on 133.5 meters. In the second round, however, he jumped as much as 140.5 meters, which allowed him to stay at the top of the scoreboard until the very end and achieve an impressive victory.
His victory was all the more surprising as he did not do so well in both Saturday competitions. He was 12th twice, with a big loss to the top of each competition.
Behind him were the Slovene Jan Bombek (136 and 139m) and his teammate Ziga Jelar (138.5 and 129m). In the general classification of the Continental Cup the Austrian Thomas Lackner turned out to be the best, ahead of the Norwegian Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng by 13 points.
However, this is not the end of the excellent news regarding the starts of Polish jumpers. Stefan Hula (131 and 135.5 m) finished the competition very high, in 9th place, Aleksander Zniszczo was 10th (131 and 131m), and Kacper Juroszek (125 and 137.5m) was in the 11th place. Apart from them, three more Poles scored points – 15th (128.5 and 126m), 27th Klemens Murańka (124 and 119.5m), and also 28th Jan Habdas (124 and 121m).
