The decision to withdraw GKS from the second league football games was made on Friday during the meeting on the future of the club. It was attended, among others, by representatives of the management board of PGE GiEK, authorities of the city of Bełchatów and representatives of the club’s management and supervisory board.

– In order for the history of the club to continue to be written, certain steps were taken and extensive talks with many entities were taken, so that from the season 2022/23 he would be represented by the first team again – commented Szymon Serwa, who is the club’s president.
The decision is the result of the difficult financial and legal situation of GKS “Bełchatów” SA We read about it in the announcement of February 23: “As a consequence of the debt increasing for 10 years, the level of the Company’s liabilities as at December 31, 2021 amounted to approx. PLN 7 million. This value includes liabilities to the Social Insurance Institution, the Tax Office, employees and contractors. The major part of this amount (approx. PLN 4 million) is constituted by public-law liabilities. ”
– Regardless of the decision regarding the further operation of the joint-stock company GKS Bełchatów, PGE GiEK will strive to provide support for the sports activities of local clubs, associations and foundations promoting sports and physical activity – assured Andrzej Legeżyński, president of the management board of PGE.
“In the near future, further decisions are to be made regarding the future of the club, which will no longer function in the current format” – we read in the Friday announcement of GKS Bełchatów.
After 20 queues in eWinner, the residents of Bełchatów were 16th in the table. They had 18 points on their account. In the past, this club won the country’s runner-up (2007). In the same season, they reached the finals of the Polish Super Cup and the League Cup. They played until the 2014/2015 season.
