IDK Euskotren has achieved its 13th victory in the Women’s League Endesa by imposing itself with authority in the derby that has faced Kutxabank Araski in Vitoria-Gasteiz by 67-75.
The people of San Sebastian have enjoyed a maximum advantage of up to 15 points at the end of the third quarter, but Araski did not throw in the towel and fought until the last second.
The locals, in fact, have dominated the first quarter. The team coached by Made Urieta has surprised the Gipuzkoans by playing counterattack and after a series of equalizers they have gone ahead 20-14 at the end of the first ten minutes of the match.
But that is as far as Kutxabank Araski’s domain has come. The Gipuzkoans have put the batteries in the second quarter, have corrected mistakes, and after tying at 24 points they have taken the lead on the scoreboard. Made Urieta’s men once again showed a very irregular performance throughout the game, and they paid dearly for it.
So for the breakIDK Euskotren commanded 35 to 38 on the scoreboard, and was showing clear signs of recovery.
The third quarter was totally up to the women from San Sebastian, with a Cvitkovic intractable. The Croatian has spread her good work to the rest of the team and as a result they have reached the beginning of the last quarter with a comfortable lead of 15 points.
Last chance
Everything seemed to be decided, but the Araski players have not given up and, when it seemed that the match was lost, have been put to 7 points of the opponent (61-68). However, the recovery has been seen and not seen. IDK has once again taken control of the game and has finally taken the victory by 67 to 75.
IDK Euskotren adds its 13th league victory, while Araski has 9 wins and 12 losses.
